Project in Food production for Airwatergreen

Projekt inom Livsmedelsproduktion från Energimyndigheten
Airwatergreen amongst the companies involved for the implementation of the project "LEST is more! - Lower Energy Steam Treatment in food industry”.

UPPSALA – 20230914

The purpose of the project is to demonstrate a more energy-efficient process for steam treatment of seeds for food and sowing. The project is expected to contribute to the transformation of the energy system as the solution’s treatment equipment can lead to energy savings for several actors within indoor cultivation. The Energy Agency also assesses that the solution has the potential for climate benefits as it can lead to less food waste, more natural crop sanitation, and increased yields.

Acanova developed ThemoSeed in the 2000s, which is a steam treatment of seeds for food and sowing. The method is state-of-the-art in Scandinavia and is installed in France, Switzerland, the USA, and Japan, and was named the foremost innovation during SLU’s first 40 years as a university in 2020.

Collaboration partners are Nordamark AB, which has developed and sells patented technology for the production of sprouts, shoots, and microplants (a rapidly growing market).

Airwatergreen’s air treatment products are based on their own patented technology, offering a number of unique advantages. All products have uniquely low electricity consumption, efficiency even at low temperatures, and are very easy to install. In the project, Airwatergreen’s Controlled Vapor Pressure (CVP) technology will be used to maintain an optimal humidity level and temperature during the treatment of seeds. This ensures the best quality and efficiency in the process. The CVP technology makes it possible to maintain a stable indoor climate with uniquely low energy consumption.

We are very proud of this acknowledgment of energy efficiency that we have received through this allocation by the Energy Agency. The collaboration with Acanova AB and Nordamark AB is an exciting entry into the rapidly growing market for indoor cultivation where our products and technology can add great value in terms of reduced electricity consumption and simplified operation!“, says Bo Tiderman, CEO of Airwatergreen.
