Background
For much of the year, humid air penetrates cold storage facilities, even in northern Sweden. This moisture condenses on cold surfaces, which can lead to slip hazards and other incidents, as well as damage to packaging and unnecessary ice formation on the cooling units. Therefore, it is beneficial to remove moisture from the air using a dehumidifier that operates efficiently at the low temperatures required in cold storage.
During the installation, a number of REX dehumidifiers were initially used due to delivery lead times for the larger NEXT unit. Over the summer, the REX dehumidifiers had to work hard as their capacity was at the limit of what was needed to handle the actual moisture load. Despite this, the units managed to maintain a good climate in the warehouse. Both the REX and NEXT dehumidifiers feature uniquely low electricity consumption, are easy to install, and deliver high capacity even at low temperatures!
The simplicity of the installation made it easy to implement a temporary setup while waiting for the more powerful NEXT dehumidifiers.
What problems did Airwatergreen's dehumidifiers solve?
During the summer, 6 REX units positioned around the warehouse managed the moisture introduced by incoming warm air. Now, 2 NEXT units have been installed, offering a significantly higher total capacity and lower energy consumption per kilogram of water removed from the air.
The REX dehumidifiers were connected via our cloud-based Climate Control System solution, and the NEXT units are now connected in the same way. This makes it possible to maintain continuous control over both the climate and the operational status.

Condensation on cold surfaces can now be avoided in the cold storage facility. Previously, this was a work environment issue that posed a risk of accidents and damage to both goods and property.
