Humidity Control in Cold Storage and Logistics – Safety, Energy Savings, and a Stable Cold Chain

We help you keep your business running around the clock, no matter what happens outside your doors.

Cold Storage

We understand your environment—and how moisture affects it

Cold storage facilities and logistics terminals operate under constant humidity stress. We have installed NEXT in cold storage facilities and logistics terminals in several countries, and the problems are similar everywhere.

  • Warm, humid outdoor air enters through loading docks and doorways and condenses inside the cold facility.
  • Condensation collects on the ceiling and on cold surfaces, rails, and cargo, and drips down.
  • Ice buildup on the evaporators of the cooling units increases the need for defrosting and drives up energy consumption.
  • Wet floors pose a slipping hazard for forklifts and staff—in the worst-case scenario, operations must be shut down as a safety measure.
  • Packaging and goods absorb moisture and are at risk of damage throughout the entire cold chain.

Here's what NEXT does in cold storage and logistics

A Safer Work Environment, 24/7

Damp floors in a logistics terminal pose a direct safety risk. Slippery surfaces lead to forklift accidents, and in the worst-case scenario, the safety organization will shut down operations. With NEXT, humidity levels are kept stable and the floors stay dry—so operations can run smoothly without interruption, even during the summer when humidity is at its highest.

Lower energy costs without compromising on cooling

Chillers are designed to cool, not to handle moisture. When humidity levels are high, ice forms on the evaporators, defrost cycles increase, and energy consumption rises unnecessarily. NEXT removes moisture directly from the air, taking the load off the chillers. You’ll see the difference on your energy bill.

Works where other dehumidifiers fail

Refrigerant-based dehumidifiers lose efficiency as the temperature drops, often as early as around +10 °C. NEXT is designed for cold environments and maintains its high performance all the way down to 0 °C.

There is energy to be saved—how much depends on your facility

Here’s an example: A 4,000 m² cold storage facility saved 300,000 kWh per year after installing NEXT—compared to the previous solution. Energy consumption for dehumidification came to 1.38 kWh per liter of water removed.

See what that would mean for your facility.
