Lowering the humidity level to avoid condensation and risk of ice formation

QUICK FACTS

Background information

In connection with loading and unloading, it is common for warm moist air to enter unloading halls for cold storage. It is very difficult to get a complete seal and when this moisture enters the cooler unloading hall, condensation easily forms with the risk of ice formation. This poses a risk of both accidents and damage to packaging and other equipment.

What problems did the Airwatergreen dehumidifier solve?

I Wohlins Fryshus Logistik AB, which offers energy and environmentally smart solutions for storage, logistics and transportation of frozen food, has chosen to handle this challenge with the help of two REX. One REX at each end of the premises. The dry air flow is directed up from ground level.

To manage the risk of condensation on cold surfaces, the dehumidifiers are set to work against really low levels of relative humidity below 40%.

Benefits of using awg products vs. doing nothing?

Experience showed that we needed to use a dehumidifier. Using the chillers was not enough and also caused unnecessary wear on the units. After a period of testing to verify the benefits, we decided to invest in Airwatergreen's technology. The fact that the dehumidifier is just as effective down to minus degrees is a big advantage. The fact that it was possible to install the machines in a good way and that the energy consumption is low made the decision easy. In addition, we have them connected, which also helps us keep track of the climate in the hall.
