QUICK FACTS

Background

The production of drinking water involves handling large volumes of raw water, the majority of which is extracted from groundwater sources.

Raw water typically maintains a low temperature between 3–10°C, depending on the time of year. The raw water is frequently filtered through large sand filters housed in cisterns. The cold raw water cools the cisterns, frequently resulting in significant condensation challenges. Condensation forms when the ambient air humidity is excessively high relative to the cold surface of the cistern, meaning the moisture level exceeds the dew point.

Atmospheric moisture enters via facility ventilation and from open water surfaces. Moisture can also become problematic in other areas of the facilities due to the use of powdered chemicals in drinking water production. Storing these chemicals is facilitated by maintaining lower humidity levels throughout the facility.

These challenges can be effectively managed using Airwatergreen's dehumidifiers. The units feature uniquely low energy consumption, are easy to install, and deliver high capacity even at low temperatures!

The simplicity of installation allows for testing and evaluation prior to permanent placement and installation.

What problems did Airwatergreen's dehumidifiers solve?

A NEXT240 dehumidifier was installed at Tekniska Verken Linköping for a period of two months. During the test, no ductwork was used; instead, air was drawn directly into the unit and discharged freely into the space. To ensure the correct humidity level and prevent condensation on the cisterns
external sensors were utilized to measure both the humidity level and, crucially, the temperature of the cold surfaces.

In other words, dehumidification was controlled via the dew point using the AWG Climate Control System. AWG CCS is a Cloud-based system for monitoring and controlling dehumidifiers and sensors.

Benefits of using Airwatergreen's products versus doing nothing?

Drinking water production is inherently food industry production. Consequently, it is essential to prevent condensation in these facilities, as it can lead to both equipment damage and mold growth.
