In the manufacturing of plastic components, it is crucial to control the moisture level in both the material and the air during the process to ensure high quality in the final product. Today, this is a very energy-intensive process.
Airwatergreen AB continuously searches for new innovations and works to help other companies improve their methods and processes. Together with the Netherlands-based company Piscatio BV, a project has been initiated for the plastics industry.

Many plastic compounds must be dried before they can be further processed. This is because moisture in the compound used in production can cause irregularities and voids in the final application.
The international project was initiated to investigate the possibility of drying plastic compounds with the lowest possible energy consumption. This would result in a more sustainable application compared to conventional drying equipment that uses continuously heated air and requires significantly more energy.
In the experiments, a container is filled with compound and connected to the REX (see image at the top) to reduce the amount of water in the air.
Compound samples are tested before and after the process to measure moisture content. Energy consumption is continuously monitored during the process.
The REX dehumidifier from Airwatergreen is typically used to dehumidify indoor environments with the lowest possible energy consumption. The low energy consumption of the REX is achieved thanks to the patented technology used in the dehumidifier.
The project is subsidized by #LIO F and carried out in collaboration with #Meldon Plastics BV and #DM&P BV.
The purpose of the test is to evaluate how to create an energy-efficient production process that ensures high quality throughout the process.
