Background information
As the air in Frigoscandia's 4,000 m² refrigerated warehouse is at a low temperature, negative pressure is created in the warehouse, which means that air from outside is sucked in. When the warmer moist air from the outside meets cold surfaces, condensation forms and thus the risk of moisture-related challenges and damage. The refrigeration units are burdened with ice formation, which requires regular defrosting and damage can occur to packaging. Slips and falls can also occur due to condensation on cold floors.
These challenges can be met with the help of Airwatergreen dehumidifiers. Low electricity consumption, easy installation and high capacity even at low temperatures make this possible!
What problems did the Airwatergreen dehumidifier solve?
A NEXT240 was installed in the cold store where it captures the moisture that mainly enters through the loading doors. Moist air enters during the periods when the doors are opened and spreads quickly in the cold store.
As part of the premises is used as a cold store, we supply the dried air to the passage tunnel leading into the cold store from the refrigerated warehouse (see picture below). In this way, we create a dry zone in the lock that allows less moisture to enter the cold storage section. The entrance has a quick-action door to the cold store and a curtain to the cold store. This allows dry air to flow out into the cold store that way. The moist air is taken from the cold store and thus reduces the moisture level throughout the premises.
We constantly measure humidity and temperature at several locations in the warehouse and can thus monitor the climate and optimize the control of the dehumidifier over time.
Benefits of using awg products vs. doing nothing?
In Frigoscandia's cold store, we no longer have to deal with condensation on cold surfaces, which used to lead to accidents and damage to goods and property. It is also not as cold to be in the cold store. The challenges of ice formation in the cold store with costly and time-consuming defrosting have been reduced, which saves energy and reduces wear and tear on the cooling units.
