Water and wastewater is a critical function for society

Investment in infrastructure is high and maintenance over time is costly. This applies to everything from pumping stations to treatment plants and culverts.

Why effective air treatment is crucial in wastewater facilities

Above and below ground, high humidity, condensation and exposure to corrosive substances can cause significant operational and structural problems if not addressed.

Key challenges

  • Corrosion and structural damage
Excess humidity accelerates rust and corrosion, especially on metal surfaces and essential equipment. This leads to frequent repairs and replacements, increasing maintenance costs.
  • Condensation and mold growth
Condensation forms on cold surfaces and creates an ideal environment for mold and bacteria growth. This not only damages the plant but also poses health risks to workers.
  • Poor air quality
Poor air quality due to high humidity affects the working environment and leads to discomfort and potential health problems for staff.

The effects of air treatment

Proper dehumidification and air treatment provide crucial benefits for wastewater facilities:

  • Longer equipment life
Reduces corrosion and ensures machines and infrastructure last longer.

  • Lower maintenance costs
Prevents damage caused by moisture, saving time and resources.

  • Improving working conditions
Creates a safer and healthier environment for workers.

  • Operational efficiency
Reduces disruption and ensures reliable operation of the plant.

With tailored solutions from Airwatergreen, you can protect your wastewater infrastructure, reduce costs and ensure sustainable operations.

Applications in wastewater facilities

Effective air treatment is crucial in different parts of wastewater facilities, with each area facing unique challenges. Airwatergreen offers customized solutions to meet these needs, ensuring sustainability, efficiency and a healthier environment.

Pumping stations

  • Challenge: Condensation on cold surfaces and varying humidity levels.
  • Our solution: compact dehumidifiers like FLEX, perfectly adapted to these environments.

Regulatory works

  • Challenge: Open water surfaces, temperature variation and high relative humidity.
  • Our solution: Powerful models like REX or NEXT, which guarantee efficiency all year round.

Pipe galleries

  • Challenge: Underground spaces with cold pipes are prone to condensation, which increases the risk of corrosion and structural damage.
  • Our solution: The FLEX dehumidifier can be easily mounted on the wall for optimal humidity control.
The use of a dew point sensor is recommended in rooms with low pipe temperatures to ensure precise dehumidification.

Storage of polymeric materials

  • Challenge: Chemicals and materials stored in these areas require strict humidity control to maintain their quality and usability.
  • Our solution: the FLEX dehumidifier automatically maintains the desired moisture level, preventing material degradation.

Staff quarters and storage rooms

  • Challenge: Proper ventilation is necessary, but can introduce extra moisture during the summer months when outdoor air is humid.
  • Our solution: Adapt the dehumidification capacity to the assessed moisture load with FLEX or REX units.

Good in ALL climates

"We have had problems with condensation and moisture in our water plant for a long time.
I am very pleased that we could solve these problems by installing a REX dehumidifier

Our solutions for wastewater environments

The choice of product depends on the moisture load in the premises. We are happy to help you estimate the moisture load. Then we measure the actual moisture level and can make a calculation that includes the dimensions of the premises and ventilation.

In small to medium-sized pumping stations, FLEX is the natural choice. FLEX dehumidifiers can be mounted on a wall bracket or stand freely on the floor. FLEX can also be configured to act as an additional heating element with the Tempguard function.

The BLACKBOX carbon filter removes hydrogen sulfide in pumping stations. Combines advantageously with dehumidifiers that ensure a suitable moisture level in the pumping station but also reduce the moisture load on the carbon filter and thus extend its service life.

REX is used to advantage in large pumping stations and other large spaces such as filter beds. Multiple REXs provide increased capacity.

Both FLEX and REX can be connected to existing monitoring systems via Modbus.
